Brownsburg Vineyard Church Independent Investigation Report
February 10, 2026
Brownsburg Vineyard Church announces the completion of the independent investigation into alleged clergy sexual abuse by its former Senior Pastor, Denis Roy. The investigation was initiated by Vineyard USA through their Guidepost Reporting Hotline. Brownsburg Vineyard Church was notified by Vineyard USA of an allegation of clergy sexual abuse and the initiation of an independent investigation in February 2025 and participated fully in the investigation. The resulting report affirmed the May 16, 2025, decision of the Brownsburg Vineyard Church (BVC) Board to formally end the employment and relationship with Roy due to inappropriate conduct with women. This action was taken after allegations were brought directly to the BVC Board and were investigated internally.
Denis Roy committed clergy sexual abuse resulting in significant harm—harm to victims, harm to families, and harm to our congregation. What is described in the report represents a serious abuse of pastoral authority and trust. Brownsburg Vineyard Church grieves the pain that was caused, and its leadership is truly sorry this happened within our church.
We also want to acknowledge, with deep gratitude and respect, the victims who came forward. We recognize that sharing experiences of harm requires immense courage, vulnerability, and strength. These victims have done so at great personal cost, carrying emotional, relational, and spiritual weight that few will ever fully see.
Their voices have brought truth into the open. By speaking up, they have made it possible for what was hidden to come to light, for accountability to begin, and for meaningful change to begin. We grieve the pain they have endured, and we honor the integrity and bravery it takes to tell the truth when silence might have felt safer. Their testimony has reshaped our understanding and clarified our responsibility. This report also clearly highlighted gaps within BVC processes for which we are profoundly sorry. We grieve over the pain that our failures have caused to these victims. We are committed to healing for victims and reform in our processes and culture.
BVC has acknowledged past areas where we failed in our responsibilities to address concerns and misconduct. We have taken the Report’s recommendations seriously and have already made changes, including adjustments to board structure and composition, for the sake of the church’s health and future. BVC’s board will continue to devote significant resources to provide trauma-informed care for those who are harmed, plus education and training to its leaders, so that our church is a safer place and our leaders are held to the highest standards of care and integrity.
While we are profoundly saddened that harm occurred at all, we are grateful that the investigation provided a space for victims to come forward with similar experiences. BVC’s top priority is to provide care and support to those affected. Counseling services continue to be offered to known victims and will remain available to others impacted. Brownsburg Vineyard Church is committed to being a place of safety, healing, and restoration.
